Marketing Your Business Offline Can Bring You More Money

The internet is a powerful marketing medium but it is only one of many. By going to other venues to market you will reach people that you never would have by only marketing online. You may be doing well now but sooner or later your main traffic streams may die out so you might as well differentiate your business now with methods that aren’t at all effected by the search engines.

Ever wonder why some of the more advanced online marketers are heavily involved in offline marketers? When it comes down to it you are in business to make sales. And you want to increase those sales then you must add offline marketing to your activities. Following are a few very common methods used in offline marketing that you are already familiar with but probably aren’t using.

Forget about e-mail marketing for a moment and think about what has been around a lot longer: direct mail marketing. Direct mail campaigns involve sending out promotional fliers, brochures or letters to people on a mailing list. If you make your own promotional letters or fliers and print them out yourself, you will not have to pay the high cost of having them printed. Postage is another expense you have to consider; if you use postcards instead of brochures or letters, this will be less.

Look for people in your area who run conventional businesses that might benefit from something you sell and contact them. You don’t have to limit your marketing to business owners, of course; you can also send out mail to people who aren’t in business. You should become familiar with any laws about sending out mail (e.g. some people may be on do not mail lists) before you embark on a direct mail campaign.

Business cards can work wonders, also. A very effective way to use these cards is to find books at a bookstore or library that are similar to your site and then insert one of them in each book. Many libraries frown on this action, so you will have to act quickly and be subtle about what you are doing. There’s should be no concern about getting into trouble with the law; if you get caught they will only tell you that you are not allowed to do that.

The phone book can be used for advertising. This is overlooked – how many times have you heard someone on your favorite forum or in a newsletter recommend placing ads in a phone book? Today, more people are turning to the internet to do the same searches that they used to open a phone book and do. The good news is, most phone books have an online version as well as a paper version.

Buy space in both and you should be set! You can get a ton of traffic by making sure you get your link in both version. Phone books are still very effective. Marketing requires you to become more creative. You need to at least realize that the offline market is a giant compared to the internet. If you ever have dreams of becoming a millionaire marketer then you need to include offline sales into your system.
