If you are interested in news reviews and I asked you to explain general reports found on a normal subject, what would you consider? Come on. Tell me. Want me to assume? You think of general reports as news that is new and is written for the general public having advertising for people typically keen on books, or, you may assume general news as global news that everybody in the world can connect with. For instance, the recent oil spill is general news as it affected so many countries, or perhaps the past slump, since it had an effect on more than half of the lands in the whole world. If you guess that, then you are right with what you regard as information and news.
For a much better meaning, general news is a type of news that is composed for the general public. This means, everybody can connect with it. As a writer, it is hard to write all-purpose news that is since you must analyze on matters that not only people in a some area can relate to, but people all around the world can relate to. The two said above are clear, since a lot of countries are affected. However, it is not a daily news that a bank messes up its funds, or when an oil leak happens, threatening nearly half of the population of the world’s marine organisms.
So, as a columnist who is tasked to write general news, you should think carefully about what you are going to deliver, and you need to do broad research first. This is since your audience is the entire world, there is no room for mistake, and if you commit one, or write anything that is incorrect, then it will definitely affect the newspaper that you are writing for.
On the whole, when writing news and answers, you need to be wary of two very simple things, your subject and relation to the entire world. So, whatever happened in Hawaii that isn’t something most important isn’t valuable for general news.
